Kevin Naidoo
Born in the coastal city of Durban, South Africa and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Kevin Naidoo travels the world teaching yoga. He has completed over 600 hours of formal training. First studying classical Hatha with the Sivananda lineage in India, Kevin deepened his studies through the teachings of the Krishnamacharyas, studying Vinyasa with Ryan Leier, Vinyasa Krama with Srivatsa Ramaswami and Ashtanga under the tutelage of his current mentor Danny Paradise.
Forces of discovery are always at work in Naidoo. His traveling lifestyle has earned him the moniker of “nomad” among friends and family. Kevin’s adventures have taken him trekking across Africa, bathing in the Ganges, living on remote islands and hitchhiking his way through more than 50 countries. Fascinated by history, culture, tradition and spirituality, Kevin’s job as a traveling teacher nourishes his spirit while supporting his endeavor to spread a message of oneness.
Kevin shares yoga with people of all ages; firmly believing this ancient practice can be for everyone in our modern world. In addition to offering workshops and retreats for adults, he has taught inner city youth, mentally challenged children and high school students, introducing the next generation to yoga.
Kevin combines ancient yogic and Shamanic traditions in a non-dogmatic way to be accessible to all. Teaching Hatha, Yin, Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow classes set to positive island vibes, Kevin weaves Vedic philosophy, Patanjali’s Sutras, concentration and a withdrawal of the senses with breathwork, bandhas and asana, creating a brilliant tapestry of the practice rooted in tradition. Kevin guides his students through Yoga Nidra at the end of each practice for the ultimate meditative and relaxing experience.
Yoga contains both discipline and softness. It is a journey toward liberation; uncovering one’s true Self and honoring the greatness in others, best walked in the spirit of light and love. Naidoo’s students find not only a confident leader and spiritual warrior in their teacher, but a patient and humble mentor who is attentive to the progress of each individual. Move with him to ignite prana in the body and feel the tranquility and freedom that await us in each pose. Kevin holds space for every student so they may feel supported and safe throughout their practice, during movements that offer physical challenges and experiences that range from playful to powerful and emotional.
