Cilla Weisman

Cilla (E-RYT 500hour) is co-founder and instructor at Sukha Yoga, a long-time resident of Burlington and a lifelong student of the mind and body. She has been practicing yoga since 2001 and strongly believes that as a teacher, one should always continue to practice and learn to better serve others. She started her continuing education at the University of Vermont where she earned a bachelors Degree in Psychology. When she began her college career she was unsure of the future but knew one thing: she wanted to help others. Through college and self study she realized the important link between the mind and the body and decided to attend Touchstone Healing Arts. This school provided an in depth training in anatomy, alignment and holistic health to become a massage therapist.

Over the years she furthered her education in massage with certificates in Thai massage, Balinese massage, Lymphatic massage, Hot Stone massage as well as Ayurvedic massage and body treatments. It was during these years in her youth that she discovered yoga. She turned to her yoga practice initially for relief due to the constant pain of scoliosis and physically demanding work. Once she began, she couldn’t stop. She realized that yoga not only relieved her aches and pains by making her stronger and more open, but it also broadened her mindfulness and awareness. She was able to work through deep physical and emotional scarring and become a much healthier and happier person. She realized the impact her practice had on her own well being and wanted to share this powerful, transformative practice with others to help them overcome obstacles and suffering.

She completed her 200 hour teacher training locally (Burlington, VT) and spent several years assisting 200 hour teacher trainings. She then moved on to complete her 500 hour Advanced training of Hatha Yoga, under the Tantric Tradition, in Bali. Here she was able to dive deeper into the practice, and take it far beyond asana and pranayama.
